Water quality, waste production, and off‐flavor characterization in a depuration system stocked with market‐size Atlantic salmon Salmo salar

چکیده
Land-based Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar, grow-out facilities utilize depuration to remediate off-flavor. Water used in this process is either discharged or repurposed as supply water recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS). Both approaches require an understanding of quality and waste production for treatment decisions compliance with pollution discharge standards; however, these data were lacking. Therefore, a study was carried out characterize parameters. To begin, 311 salmon (5–6 kg) originally cultured freshwater RAS stocked at 100 kg/m3 18 m3 tank. Feed withheld 1 day before transfer throughout the 7-day period. Hours after stocking, total suspended solids (TSS), phosphorus (TP), ammonia nitrogen (TAN) levels spiked, concentrations declined thereafter. Delta TSS TP negligible by end trial; TAN plateaued, indicating that began catabolize somatic tissue absence feeding. Geosmin 2-methylisoboreol fish low study. This research indicates residual occurs while depurating salmon. Procedural refinements recommendations gleaned including locality introducing system within extension feed withholding period depuration.

In today’s world renewable energy is highly demanding because of increasing oil and fuelprices, desire and necessity to avert irreversible climate damage and also the unreliability of the non -renewablesources. In renewable energy, water is an important source. Previously water is used only for survivalof human being as much as food but no attentionhas been givenen to economical use and conserv...
متن کاملFast water currents reduce production performance of post-smolt Atlantic salmon Salmo salar
In the future, an increasing number of salmon farms may be located in areas with fast water current velocity due to limited availability of more sheltered locations. However, there is little information as to how fast currents affect fish health and welfare. We used raceways to expose Atlantic salmon post-smolts (98.6 g, 22.3 cm) to homogeneous water velocities corresponding to 0.2, 0.8 and 1.5...
متن کاملAtlantic Salmon Reovirus Infection Causes a CD8 T Cell Myocarditis in Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar L.)
Heart and skeletal inflammation (HSMI) of farmed Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) is a disease characterized by a chronic myocarditis involving the epicardium and the compact and spongious part of the heart ventricle. Chronic myositis of the red skeletal muscle is also a typical finding of HSMI. Piscine reovirus (PRV) has been detected by real-time PCR from farmed and wild salmon with and witho...
